DIVAS for Social Justice launched on September 14, 2026 an expanded STEAM (Science Technology Engineering Arts Math) for Social Change Program at the Linden SDA School. The program is free and funded by the Department of Youth and Community Development. The grant allotted for DIVAS to serve 43 elementary school students(1-8) and 39 middle school students. In its second week, the elementary program has reached enrollment and has a waiting list of ten students! There is still room to apply for middle school students but it’s filling up fast. This year students will get the opportunity to learn about emerging technology through robotics, explore maker activities through digital embroidery and crochet and engage in a series of community social action projects. In October all students will participate in a beautification project in Laurelton with the NY Daffodil Project.
