Duwayne Baylis: I own a Jamaican Restaurant, Tru Jerk and Soul.

AP: When did your business come about?

DB: – In 2015.

AP: Why did you think of making your own business instead of working for somebody else’s company?

DB: Because I didn’t want to work for anybody else, I wanted to be my own boss.

AP: On a scale to one to ten, how would you rate your food?

DB: A ten of course, but I can only speak for myself , not everybody else.

AP: Would you ever sell your business over to anybody else? Why or why not?

DB: “No, because when I start things, I like to finish them. I wouldn’t want to give anyone the opportunity to finish the hard work that I originally started. I want to reap what I’ve sown.

AP: Why on Merrick, why Laurelton?

DB: There are already a lot of businesses located here. Laurelton is a pretty self-sufficient community–I looked around and everything I needed was already here. I just wanted to make a mark of my own.
