Fix The Way We Learn Online.

Covid-19 has affected my school life in a lot of ways. I would turn into a California wildfire if I expressed how I feel. Furthermore, my school life is different from the norm because of the social distancing guidelines. I feel like hybrid learning is the best way to make everyone safe, but there are problems with the way it works.

In this computerized world we live in today, there’s always the risk of Zoom accidentally muting your mic or stopping your camera by accident. Perhaps, there is a chance that someone, preferably a hacker, might find your IP address and gain access to your device. The tipping point for me was when a hacker was able to blast our Zoom chat with profanity!

However, I blame Mayor Bill De Blasio for not caring about schools reopening. There was a lot of confusion which created fear and delay in our learning process. The mayor’s preposterous actions to delay schools will have grave implications for minority students. Some students do not have access to a device or stable internet connection to participate in distant learning from home. The sad reality is that remote learning can’t compare to in-person learning. So Mr. Mayor, do yourself and us all a favor and START CARING!
