March 5, 2020 marks the day of the monthly meeting of the Federated Blocks of Laurelton at the Theta Chi Chapter office.. To begin the night, Officer Kissane from the 105 precinct came to expand the awareness of the Corona virus and as well as to answer any questions the people of Laurelton have about the community issues.

As the night continued, people from the U.S Census Bureau came to share information about the 20/20 census and were really persistent about everyone filling out a form which could bring money and new resources to the community of Laurelton or anywhere else in the United States. It is highly recommended that everyone should fill out the census.

Later on during the night, there was an announcement from one of the members of the federation, Dwight Johnson, he spoke about getting more members for the Federated Block of Laurelton because the bigger the organization, the more help the federation gets. Also, information was given out that March 24th will be the day for elections and March 14th will be early voting. A surprise guest, Mr. Thomas Oliver, one of the founders of the Federated Blocks of Laurelton in the 1970s came to see how big and great the federation became and he was very pleased.

Damani Bobb
My name is Damani Bobb. I was raised in Laurelton, Queens for 18 years and I am now a Group Leader at the STEAM for Social Change Program at the Linden SDA School. I attended P.S 156 Elementary to Middle School which was the location of the first ever STEAM for Social Change program was done. Attending the STEAM program taught me different skills such as Robotics, Communication, Photography and 3D printing. To this day I am grateful for everything I was taught in this program. I am also learning some new skills along the way as well such as Mandated Reporting. Being a young adult in the early 2000's in Laurelton is a blessing and upholds great opportunities. I am the official Community Journalism Reporter covering the monthly Federated Blocks of Laurelton monthly meetings.
